Blessings are not easy to define – it is usually defined as God’s favor, support, or protection. Blessing is when God looks down upon us and gives us what we need or prayed for. Therefore, we may not know the definition, or we may not know the true meaning of the word “blessing”, but we all KNOW when we are blessed and we FEEL it. Being blessed is what we all need in life and what we all want, even though many people do not experience it very often.
So, do we really know what our blessings are in life?
We live our lives by a scheme that is common to the country that we live in, or to our city, or our neighborhood. We wake up, have breakfast, go to work or school, go shopping, go out with friends…We all seem to live similar lives and even if we feel we need to change some things or habits, we just keep going with a flow and don’t do anything to make a change. Most of the time we suppress that feeling and do not even stop to reflect on it and understand where it comes from.
Most of these feelings actually come from our higher self, who tries to tell us that our purpose is something else, or that the time has come to summarize and make a new plan. The human side of our being wants to stay safe in our comfort zone and continues to follow the paths that we or someone else has trodden for us. The only way to really create a life we would live to its full potential is to work on ourselves.
One way to work on ourselves is to notice and count our blessings and be grateful for them. When you seek for blessings to count, you shall find them. There are so many things we are blessed with, that it won’t take much effort.

So, what is that we can count as blessings?
- Being alive
- Waking up to another day
- Having family
- Being healthy
- Being able to see, hear, feel, talk
- Being connected to God
- Guidance by your Creator
- Having opportunity to be surrounded by nature
- Having a pet
- The sunshine
- Fresh air
- Fresh water
- Roof over head
- Supportive co-workers
- Opportunity to live a healthy life
- A vehicle
- Good fortune
- A smiley face at shops
- Nice clothes
- Good memories
- Nice meal on your table
- Being able to pay your bills
- Good neighbors
- Healthy environment
- Avoiding misfortune or accidents
- Ability to meditate
- Being safe and protected
- Ability to forgive and be forgiven
- Ability to express yourself
- Nice weather
And so many more. Once you start noticing and counting your blessings, you shift your focus from “lack” to “abundance”, you feel blessed, you feel happy and you feel grateful. And there is so much to be grateful for. When you feel blessed, happy, and grateful you have a higher vibration and you attract alike. The more grateful you are– the more comes to you to be grateful for. The more blessed you feel the more blessings will come your way. Start counting your blessings and move toward a life that was meant for you with grace, courage, strength, and self-confidence.
