Did You Know That… Tapping

When it comes to experiencing problems in life, whether physical or emotional, the way to deal with them is to remove whatever caused them. Did you know that tapping is one of the best research-backed techniques for this? Read on to learn more.

What is Tapping?

Tapping, also called Emotional Freedom Technique or psychological acupressure, is an alternative therapy for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic disorder (PTSD) and many other health conditions. Tapping on different parts of the body helps to balance energy and reduce physical and emotional pain. When you have a problem of any kind, whether it is a physical symptom, a relationship problem, or a work-related problem, you can solve that problem by simply erasing whatever is causing it. Tapping is a powerful tool you can use to achieve this. By tapping certain points – energy meridians on the side of your palm, face, collarbone, armpit and head, by saying statements relevant to your condition or any problem in the world, you can bring up suppressed emotions, change your energy and heal that condition or situation.

How Problems Arise in Our Life

Modern life is full of stress, overwhelm, frustration and other difficult emotions that go along with it. The world seems to be full of problems that are bigger than us. This can create uncertainty and fear of what is going to happen. We get hurt along the way, sometimes we deal with it, and many times we push it away to deal with it later. We don’t allow ourselves to feel the emotions associated with the pain, or we simply suppress the emotions and try to forget them.

If we don’t think about these emotions, it doesn’t mean they are gone. They are still hidden in our subconscious waiting for their moment to act. At some point, the memories take over and we begin to suffer, consciously or unconsciously. Core wounds such as rejection, abandonment, humiliation, betrayal and injustice can cause many physical, emotional or mental disorders. When we experience problems in life, whether physical or emotional, the way to deal with them is to remove what caused them.

From Pain and Worry to Peace

We all encounter numerous experiences throughout our lives. Some leave us with happy memories that we appreciate, while others leave traces of pain and hurt. We all experience trauma at some point in our lives. The wounds of our past affect our lives every day. To heal and allow our bodies to release the burden of trauma, we need to feel safe enough in the present moment. We must learn to build a sense of safety and stability within ourselves before we can heal the wounds of the past. There are things that we can do for ourselves to move from pain and worry to peace, such as:

  • Pay attention to the present moment
  • Observe thoughts
  • Let go of thoughts
  • Focus on breathing
  • Meditate
  • Love yourself
  • Be grateful
  • Practice blessings
  • Practice tapping
