Healthy Stinging Nettle Syrup

Step 1

Soak lemons and oranges in a baking soda solution for 15 minutes, then rinse them, dry and set them aside.

Step 2

Wash the nettle thoroughly and immerse it in a large pot with 5 litres of water. Leave aside for 24 hours to infuse, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Remove the nettles from the pot with thongs, place in a colander and drain the excess water. Add raw sugar to the nettle infusion, mix well and set aside.

Step 4

Squeeze the juice from lemons and oranges and add the juice to the nettle infusion. Cut the lemon and orange zest and add to the pot. Set aside for 24 hours, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Step 5

Strain the syrup and pour into clean glass bottles. Keep it in the refrigerator until serving.

Serving suggestions:

To serve, mix 1 part syrup with 3 parts filtered water.
